Remi Wolf Big Ideas

Remi Wolf is back with a new album entitled Big Ideas, so tap into your entrepreneurial spirit and get in on that early round of funding before the vultures come circling. To kick off the “seed round” (can you tell I was just at SXSW?), Remi has dropped “Cinderella.” The track is a pop-funk party that fits in nicely with the rest of Wolf’s discography. Engaging horns cheer the singer along as she offers up a schoolyard-like chant—all backed by an excellent use of the triangle.

Regarding the track, Wolf shared: “‘Cinderella’ is a lyrical collage of the ups and downs and mood swings and transient lifestyle I was experiencing while writing this album. Constant travel and rapid changes led me to feel such a rollercoaster of emotion—moving from feeling really insecure to feeling really good to feeling manic and depressed and then feeling OK again, while desperately craving a grounding figure to tell me I was doing a good job. So, this song was me stepping in as my own fairy godmother telling myself that I was in control.” As for the instrumental, she added, “I wanted the song to have a sense of ’70s nostalgia while still feeling like a record made today. And I wanted to make something where you can’t help but dance and move and feel good while listening.”

The music video for the track features a cameo from none other than Mac DeMarco, who plays an ice cream man who’s not very good at his job. Check that out below, and pre-order Big Ideas, which arrives July 12 via Island Records, here.
