Last summer, NYC-based songwriter Allegra Krieger impressed us with her latest album, I Keep My Feet on the Fragile Plane, a Grouper-esque collection of indie-folk tunes that require a read-along of the lyrics sheet with every listen. After a brief set of dates opening for Hand Habits and Angel Olsen following the album’s release, Krieger embarked on a more extensive set of dates last month on a US trek with Katy Kirby (whose new album we were also impressed with), wrapping up earlier this month ahead of an appearance at the anti-SXSW circuit in Austin over the course of SXSW.
As it always does, hijinks ensued. Contrasting with the both artists’ starkly confessional lyrics and earnest folk recordings, the camera roll that Krieger returned home with probably leaves us with more questions than answers as to what all went on between taking the stage in various corners of our country, though boot knives, haunted hotels, and short-lived matrimonies were evidently involved.
Find more highlights from the trip below, and see Krieger’s upcoming dates in the UK and Europe here.
