Just keep your damn mouth shut. That is the one lesson that you are able to learn real quick by watching the first teaser trailer for Black Mass—the upcoming film about notorious Bostonian gangster Whitey Bulger.

Within this first glimpse, viewers are introduced to Bulger (played by an almost unrecognizable Johnny Depp), a very creepy older man who happens to be the most terrifying dinner guest ever. Bulger schools FBI agent John Morris (played by a terrified David Harbour) in the fine art of keeping secrets, whether it’s about adding a little bit of soy sauce to your steak or, you know, knowing which of your friends is an infamous murderer. This tense scene is cut with several quick glimpses of other cast members, mostly looking very concerned, including Benedict Cumberbatch, Dakota Johnson, Adam Scott, and Kevin Bacon.

Now, we know exactly what you’re thinking, and, more importantly, how you’re feeling right now. It’s hard to trust Depp these days after his depressingly long string of terrible movies, but Black Mass looks good. Can we all learn to love and believe in him again? While we’ll only know for sure once the Warner Bros. film is released this fall, this ensemble and gritty (and true) subject matter is enough to infer that the actor is getting back on track. Just ignore the fact that Pirates of the Caribbean 5 is happening.

Black Mass is set for a theatrical release on September 18.
