Though Caleb Landry Jones has proven himself to be both useful and quite good as a musician and actor, he’s decided to name his new song “Useless.” The track is the final single from his forthcoming album Hey Gary, Hey Dawn, out this Friday via Sacred Bones. It begins with an acoustic guitar riff and an almost grunge-y vocal performance from Jones, who sings with a mysterious heft and ambivalence that occasionally borders on nihilism.

The track clocks in at just over two minutes, managing to create an evocatively creepy atmosphere in a short amount of time—another example of said usefulness. Check out the track below, and pre-order Hey Gary, Hey Dawn here.
