Our new “Neighborhoods: New Colossus” subseries focuses on some of the most exciting acts that played the titular NYC festival, which recently took over indie venues across Manhattan’s Lower East Side and featured over 100 emerging international artists in rock music and beyond taking the stage. Today’s episode spotlights one such international act, with the post-punk quartet Cucamaras hailing from Nottingham, UK.

Set up on Pier 35 overlooking the East River, the group stripped things back to perform “Cotton Wool” from their recent Buck Rogers Time EP, as well as a new single titled “Laughing,” as acoustic numbers. With the pier’s familiar bench swings occasionally visible on one side of the band and the Brooklyn Bridge dominating the background behind them, the brief set sees the touring group multitasking as they take in the sights of the city. Check it out below.
