Kerry King of Slayer in the video for “Repentless”

How heavy are Slayer? Slayer are so heavy that guitarist Kerry King can walk around rocking a Slayer t-shirt in just about every shot of this video and not look like a fool. So heavy that they can dare to begin the video with the supposed dictionary definition of a word they themselves invented. So heavy that they can release an album called Repentless on 9/11 and basically dare you to comment on it.

Today, the Southern California thrash legends dropped a “visualizer video” for their new album’s title track. Repentless is the group’s first record since 2009’s World Painted Blood, and the track represents a definitive return to the mach-like tempos and caterwauling guitar solos that the band are best known for.

Repentless is also the band’s first record following the death of founding guitarist Jeff Hanneman, who succumbed to liver failure in 2013. Hanneman is replaced by Gary Holt of fellow Bay Area thrasher Exodus, while drummer Paul Bostaph, who played with Slayer from 1994’s Divine Intervention through 2011’s God Hates Us All, re-joins the group following the departure of founding member Dave Lombardo.

Check out the “visualizer video” below.

Repentless is out September 11 on Nuclear Blast.
