Pappy Van Winkle 23 year

Now that the alleged perpetrators behind the great Pappy Van Winkle heist of 2013 are facing trial, the maestros behind what’s widely considered to be the world’s best bourbon can get back to work. First up? Maple syrup.

Paste reports (via The Spirit Business) that the Kentucky distillery will be partnering with Ohio-based Bissell Maple Farm to create a syrup aged for 100 days in former 23-year Pappy Van Winkle barrels. How sought after is the 23-year Pappy Van Winkle? Entry price on Wine Searcher is currently at $1,699. For a single bottle.

According to The Spirit Business’ report, the syrup—dubbed Bissell’s Sugarmaker’s Reserve—offers a “smooth, smoky finish” that’s “perfect for using on ice cream, cooking with pork, glazing strawberries, and as a topping on pancakes and waffles.” Or, you know, just straight from the bottle, Buddy the Elf style.

If you’ve recently sold a luxury good and are looking to spend your cash on high-end syrup, Bissell’s Sugarmaker’s Reserve will be available from June 28 to 30 at the Summer Fancy Food Show in New York.
