2015. The Libertines by Roger Sargent

The world, as it is right now, is a very different place from the world in 2004—the year when we last got our hands on a full-length album by The Libertines. George W. Bush was president, The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King won Best Picture at the Oscars, and Friends was still on the air. Look at us now! We’ve got President Obama in charge, Birdman taking the top film prize, and streaming services like Netflix revolutionizing the TV world with shows like Orange Is the New Black and House of Cards. It kind of makes you wonder what Pete Doherty would think about all of this…

Well, soon all of Doherty and company’s thoughts will be revealed because The Libertines just announced the impending release of Anthems for Doomed Youth—their brand-new follow-up to 2004’s self-titled LPWhile the London group hasn’t officially dropped any new music yet, yesterday they released the album art and track list which you can check out below as you listen to their ’04 mega-hit “Can’t Stand Me Now.”

Anthems for Doomed Youth is out on September 4 via Harvest.
