A couple months ago, Robyn revealed details about her brand-new project La Bagatelle Magique (also featuring Markus Jägerstedt and the late Christian Falk), but the Swedish dance-pop star knew that there was no better way to kick-off a weekend than with a new banger, so she dropped “Set Me Free” on Friday.
As she released the hypnotic track, Robyn gave a little bit of insight into the meaning behind the song: “It’s about being afraid and trying not to be afraid of being afraid.” With an epic beat drop, echoing and glitching Robyn shrieks, whimsical synth lines, and one clutch sax, “Set Me Free” is bound to be rotated in dance club playlists starting immediately.
“Set Me Free” is the first new track that’s available from Robyn & La Bagatelle Magique’s upcoming mini-album Love Is Free, which will be out on August 7 via Konichiwa Records/ Cherrytree/ Interscope.
