Mike Krol

Who says the punks hate the cops? Mike Krol‘s ultra-melodic Turkey drops on Friday, and today we have the pleasure of premiering the video for lead single “Neighborhood Watch.” The track is built on shocks of guitar and Krol’s snotty, authoritative yawp, which he makes the corners of the song’s melody slowly and with great pleasure.

The “Neighborhood Watch” video finds Krol putting that authority to good civic use, as he manages to halt a few crimes—and one or two bad ideas—with nothing but a shock of red light and an echo-delayed holler. Check it out for yourself below.

In a statement, directors Rob Hatch-Miller and Puloma Basu said “We’re in NYC and he’s in LA and it was going to be too expensive to have him travel out here for a shoot, so we emailed back and forth about a ideas for a video that he wouldn’t need to be in. Then Mike came up with this brilliant concept of the album cover being the star of the video. This way Mike could be ‘in’ the video without actually being ‘in’ it,  and sending a box of record jackets was way cheaper than buying a plane ticket!”

Krol will be hitting the road in support of Turkey at the beginning of September. Tell the criminals in your town to keep a low profile.
