Will Toledo’s Car Seat Headrest moniker may sound a bit nonsensical at first, but it’s not so strange once you learn that he originally recorded the vocals for his numerous self-released albums from within the family car (likely staring at—yep—a car seat headrest). Toledo is only twenty-two now, but after putting a band together and moving to Seattle last year, Matador has taken notice, and recently signed him to a two-album deal.
First up is Teens of Style, a collection of tracks from the last few years that have been re-recorded in the studio, and after that is Teens of Denial, an LP of new songs. To go along with the announcement, Toledo has shared the video for “Something Soon,” which invites us into his moody, distorted world with some good ol’ fashioned senseless vandalism.
Car Seat Headrest are heading out on a tour to celebrate the announcement, including a series of dates with Ne-Hi. Those dates, as well as the Teens of Style track listing and cover, are below.
