Surf Rock is Dead “Equinox” video

Surf rock isn’t dead; it’s just been transformed. At least, that’s the case in “Equinox,” from Brooklyn’s Surf Rock is Dead, a live video of which—produced by Buried Muse—we’re pleased to be premiering today. While the track’s moonlit vocals readily conjure the moody mid-’80s romantics, the bubbling bassline and reverb-washed lead guitar come courtesy of Pixies in full-on surf-angst mode. Still, where Black Francis and co. once kicked against the pricks, the melancholy Surf Rock is Dead seem happier to ride the wave out, fully aware that it will soon crash and recede into the sea.

In addition to the “Equinox” single and video, Surf Rock is Dead is releasing a new, self-titled EP on October 9. That track list and art is below.
