Whopper Wine

Let’s say you want to get drunk while eating fast food, but that the $4 sangria and frozen margaritas now being served at one Taco Bell in Chicago is a little too state-school for your tastes. Your palette demands sophistication, elegance. You can’t be bothered with the middle of the road, or the tastes pre-assembled for you by researchers in suburban Illinois. No, you need to have it your way. You need Whopper Wine.

That’s right. Now being poured in Spain, Whopper Wine (its actual name) was created by Burger King to celebrate forty years of operation in the European country. The wine, which an ad claims was developed in conjunction with what we’re assuming were very bemused sommeliers, is aged in a flame-broiled barrel. While there’s no word as to whether onion rings or barbecue sauce are included in the aging process, the ad does say that the wine pairs perfectly with a Whopper “and enhances its flavor.” Which, while perhaps true, would describe pretty much any kind of alcohol you’d drink with a Burger King meal.

For now, the wine is being sold exclusively in Spain. You can see the ad below and the regulations for bringing alcohol back from Europe here.
