The ever-present movement towards’90s nostalgia has found yet another artifact of decades past to revive. Myst, the classic, massively successful computer game of your childhood, is getting the live-action treatment with an upcoming television and multimedia adaptation in the works.

Details about the project are still hazy and there’s no set premiere date, but production company Legendary TV & Digital Media (Watchmen, The Dark Knight) will be at the helm of developing the adaptation. The studio is currently rounding up the possible directors, writers and other creative minds to bring Myst to the small screen.

The Myst adaptation is set to be more than just a TV show, though. Cyan Worlds, the company that created the game, said in a statement that they joined forces with Legendary to “develop a true transmedia product that will include a companion video game that extends the story across both media.”

Whatever the term “transmedia” means, the promise of a Myst TV series is sure to have gamers digging through their parents’ attics for their copy of the dusty old CD-ROM so they can start clicking their way through the first chapter in something that it appears is about to become much bigger.
