Following the release of their attention-grabbing debut EP Cassette earlier this year, Viet Cong have announced their first proper album, and it sounds massive. Along with the news that the self-titled debut will be out January 20 on Jagjaguar, the band have shared the track “Continental Shelf,” which seems to promise all the intellect of their Mission of Burma–infused EP with a cleaner, darker sound this time around.

For two of the band’s members, Matt Flegal and Mike Wallace, this is the first full-length release since the tragic death of their former bandmate, Christopher Reimer, and the subsequent dissolution of their previous band Women.

Viet Cong have a string of international tour dates, but will be Stateside in January for upcoming tour dates.

Viet Cong tour dates:

October
24 – Winnipeg, Manitoba – The Good Will

November
17 – Vancouver, British Columbia – Korean Cultural Center

January
28 – Brooklyn, NY – Union Pool
29 – New York, NY – Mercury Lounge
30 – Montreal, Quebec – Bar Le Ritz PDB
31 – Toronto, Ontario – The Garrison
