Given his recent accomplishments with Run the Jewels, Killer Mike is certainly not in need of a supplemental career, but after recently teasing a State Representative run in his home state of Georgia, the political arena seems to be getting ever closer to the rapper’s view.
Yesterday, that landscape pushed slightly closer once again as Mike welcomed Senator Bernie Sanders to Atlanta in the best way possible: taking him to get soul food at Busy Bee, and introducing him with an impassioned, eloquent speech at a campaign rally.
In his introduction, Mike earnestly explained why he believes that the time is right for Sanders to be president. “I’m here because working class and poor people deserve a chance at economic freedom,” he said. “And yes, if you work forty hours a week, you should not be in poverty.” You can watch the whole speech below.
