In this week’s installment of news that shatters reality, it has been revealed that the Mario Bros. theme song has a title and lyrics. While we are just finding out about “Go Go Mario!!” and its poetic lyrics like “Today, full of energy, Mario runs,” Japan has known about the theme song’s official words since 1985. The lyrics were given Nintendo‘s stamp of approval (and a vinyl release of the complete song) after written by Mario fans sent the words to a popular Japanese radio station.
Now, “Go Go Mario!!” is getting its day in the sun by being added to all Japanese karaoke cafes and home machines by Joysound. The new version will forego the generic footage found behind most karaoke songs and will instead display a game-play montage of all Mario Bros. games—including this year’s Super Mario Maker.
