On Tuesday night, FLOOD had the pleasure of working with YouTube to launch their Art Night program with the one and only Shepard Fairey. Fairey’s friends and fans came together at YouTube Space LA to celebrate the start of his artistic residency with an exhibit of some of his most famous works, which were displayed all over the Marina del Rey space.

After the partygoers had some time to drink all of his iconic work in, Fairey and FLOOD’s Editor-in-Chief Pat McGuire hit the stage for an exclusive conversation—in collaboration with the Google Cultural Institute—about his jam-packed year and what the future holds for him. The artist was candid as he discussed his efforts to help bring awareness to the issue of climate change as well as his desires to create art “on the wall between Israel and Palestine.”

A surprise live set by After School Special—comprised of members of Foo Fighters, Pearl Jam, Blind Melon, The Offspring, and more—followed the Q&A, captivating the full space with their faithful covers of classic rock and punk songs. They even did two T. Rex songs just for Fairey.
