2015. Wild Nothing by Shawn Brackbill.

In a little over a month, Jake Tatum will release Life in Pause (his third Wild Nothing album) on Captured Tracks, but today, he unveiled another track from the upcoming LP: “Reichpop.” The track follows “To Know You” and “TV Queen,” which were both revealed late last year, but “Reichpop” trades the previous songs’ surf-guitar twang in for the delightful plink of a vibraphone, and a bass line that would make Paul Simon proud. Towards the end, Tatum sings “I’ll try a new face for now,” and the fresh, multi-layered instrumentation present in the new track suggests that this sentiment might be closer to home than we think.

Listen to the building, playful, and atmospheric “Reichpop” below.
