In a recent interview with Billboard, Outkast‘s André 3000 dropped more than a few hints that he might be releasing new music soon. The multi-talented musician, who is currently starring in American Crime with Regina King, didn’t shy away from questions about his musical past and hopeful future.

Even when speaking about his current role on a network drama, he brought the conversation back to his roots: “It kind of puts you in the place where you’re fiending to do music. I’ve been holding [back] for a long time, so now I’m really interested in figuring out some type of music to do. I’m always recording.”

While he refused to spill any real facts about what he was working on (“I’ve gotten in trouble before for saying when or what is coming, so I like to just kind of let it be. I’d like to put out some kind of music project, but we’ll see.”), André never completely stepped away from music in the first place. In 2014, he embarked on a massive twentieth anniversary Outkast tour with Big Boi that hit almost every major festival.

That reunion ended sourly for the duo, but seeing that Big has moved on, maybe in 2016 we’ll see a new André 3000 album. Here’s to hoping it will feature Erykah Badu.
