Toronto’s Fresh Snow have perhaps the most apt name for a Canadian band of all time (honorable mention to Dilly Dally), and, for good measure, they also happen to specialize in a style that has strong roots in the True North (à la Godspeed You! Black Emperor): instrumental music.
Well, mainly instrumental. The quartet doesn’t feature a permanent vocalist, but they do dabble with vocal arrangements via the occasional guest singer—as they did on their recent EP WON, which features Damian Abraham of Fucked Up and Carmen Elle of DIANA. One truly instrumental highlight of that EP was the epic “King Twink Rides Again,” for which we have the video to premiere. The experimental cut-up experience—made by Craig Orrett and Sturdy Films—is a beautiful traverse through woods, streams, and states of mind.
If you’re in the Toronto area, you can catch the band at Endless City Gallery on Friday night. For everyone else, the trip below will have to suffice.
The WON EP is out now via Hand Drawn Dracula.
