Jennifer Lee—better known as TOKiMONSTA—has stayed busy, releasing albums on dance mega-label Ultra and Flying Lotus’ Brainfeeder, remixing Miguel and ScHoolboy Q, and working with everyone from Anderson .Paak to Kelly Rowland. Now, the LA-based producer is preparing her new mini-album, Fovere, to be released on her own Young Art label. She dropped a video for the Anderson .Paak and KRNE collaboration “Put it Down” last week (which you can see below), and today she’s releasing single “Giving Up,” which features vocals from The Drums’ Jonny Pierce and bass from Erick “Jesus” Coomes of jam band Lettuce.

While Pierce adds some air to TOKi’s piano-driven beat, Coomes is the real star here. As TOKi triggers synth stabs against a Reichian set of layered vibes and squawks, Coomes’ bass provides a gentle but insistent counterpoint, a smooth road for TOKi’s steady jog. “Live music can have a place in electronic music,” she says in a statement. “I was waiting for the right chance to have him on a track, and this one was it.”

You can check out both “Giving Up” and the “Put it Down” video below.
