It’s been five years since M83 released Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming, an album which garnered Anthony Gonzalez a Grammy nomination and a platinum single in “Midnight City.” Now, Gonzalez’s big-tent electro-pop project will return on April 8 with a new album called Junk, whose bonkers album cover you can see below.

“Anything we create today is going to end up being space junk at one point anyway, and I find it really fascinating and scary at the same time—beautiful too in a way,” Gonzalez explains of the title. “I have this image of pieces of humanity floating in space, lost forever. It also means that nowadays everything goes so fast and everybody is kind of throwing away art in a certain manner.” Hence that cheeseburger.

Gonzalez has also released the album’s lead single, “Do It, Try It,” which you can stream below. The track finds him in something of a nostalgic mood, with a house piano rhythm leading into a baroque synth lead lightly reminiscent of the Clockwork Orange score.

Following the album’s release, M83 will embark on a lengthy tour. The North American dates, along with Junk‘s art and track listing, are below.
