Last season on Veep, the big development was that Vice President Selina Meyer became President Selina Meyer, but there was also another story going on behind the scenes—namely that showrunner Armando Iannucci was stepping down to be closer to family in the UK. Iannucci is now working on an adaptation of The Death of Stalin, another political “comedy” of sorts.
David Mandel has since taken over the ship—and with a new administration in place both on the show and within it, things are moving forward into season five, where an election is being decided (and likely rigged) from a virtual tie, and a stock market crash is threatening to cause another recession. Ha ha ha—isn’t our country hilarious?!
