Imagine, if you will, the horror of having to choose between creeping people out and freaking people out. Why, being faced with such a choice would rob Marilyn Manson, FOX News, and the pizza rat of their peculiar potency.

It’s a problem that Garett van der Spek knows all too well. The LA-via-South Africa singer dropped his self-titled debut last Friday on Anti-, and today we’re pleased to be premiering the video for single “Creep Out // Freak Out.” Unless heavy Nuggets vibes make you think of sinister old garages, it’s not a terribly creepy track, but the song’s rave-up chorus, which twists up into van der Spek’s heady falsetto, feels like it’s ready to freak out small-space venues from coast to coast.

While van der Spek’s sound is certainly influenced by the garage-rock scene of his new home, there’s a craftsmanship to “Creep Out // Freak Out”’s composition that belies the song’s rough-housing production. I’d taken on this completely new life, in a country which in some ways was familiar, but in others was completely foreign,” van der Spek says of Prism Tats’ genesis in a statement. “So these songs are all about that experience of evolving.”

You can check out the “Creep Out // Freak Out” video below, as well as Prism Tats’ cover and track list.
