Minions Take Over the Surf-Fashion World with Buff Monster/Rusty Collab “Minions Lost in Paradise”
The little yellow dudes aren't the only non-humans to get their own clothing line.
In a collaboration between Swell, surf and skate brand Rusty, and visual artist Buff Monster, the “Minions Lost in Paradise” apparel line is here “para tu,” featuring our favorite yellow banana fanatics enjoying the easy, breezy beach life. Inspired by the EA game Minions Paradise, Monster re-imagined our stars in his Melty Misfits style to create the core graphic in the capsule of men’s and women’s t-shirts, swimwear, and denim, modeled here by Jay Alvarrez and Alexis Ren.
But the Minions aren’t the first entertainment franchise to earn their own line. Here, we take a look at a handful of other recent exciting capsule collections that not only make for ideal collector’s items, but are must-have fashion statement pieces.
Paying homage to the Calabasas capers, this small collection carried short shorts emblazoned with the film’s best one-liners, ring pops, and one-of-a-kind nail wraps. The best part of this collab was the evidence bag the merchandise came packaged in.
The Nas-owned HSTRY brand reimagined the 1984 classic with a full apparel and accessory collection. Citing the film as one that majorly inspired him as a kid, the rapper was sure to serve Ecto Cooler and Twinkies at the launch party.
To commemorate PlayStation’s twentieth anniversary and the launch of the PS4 console, Insert Coin perfected a geek chic look centered around that signature PS1 gray with a collection of jackets, shirts, and, best of all, a messenger bag made to look like the original PlayStation console.
Created with the film’s costume designer, the capsule launched with character-specific bikinis and graphics printed in neon. The line was topped with cigarette lighters, bandanas, and friendship bracelets. SPRING BREAK 4EVER, BITCHES! FL
