Since its opening in a cramped 200-capacity space on a dingy row in the nation’s capital, the 9:30 Club has been both one of the country’s preeminent venues—and one of the hardest to get into. Even after the success of the D.C. hardcore scene in the 1980s necessitated a move to a considerably larger room—the club currently packs in 1200 government workers, college students, and Northern Virginia residents per night—the consistently strong booking has made it the most-attended club of its size in the world.

If you’ve never been able to make it in, you’re in luck: The 9:30 Club recently launched a live series that runs on public television and online. Entitled Live at 9:30, the show brings you beyond the doors and into the middle of the action with clips from a variety of recent performances.

This morning, we’re psyched to be premiering an outtake from episode five. Portland’s inimitable Unknown Mortal Orchestra brought their hyperlite funk across the continent back in February, turning in a showstopping cut of the title track from last year’s Multi-Love. Tune in below, and click here to check out the first five episodes of Live at 9:30.
