When John Dufilho reached out to Brandon Carr about forming what would eventually become Corner Suns, Carr wasn’t making music. In fact, he says he had “given up” on it altogether. But Dufilho, himself a now-tenured member of The Apples in Stereo, knew what ability Carr was sitting on and got him back into it.

Now the Dallas-based duo are stepping out with the fruits of their labors—a self-titled debut on Idol Records as Corner Suns, merging the sparkle of Dufilho’s textures in Apples in Stereo, and the baroque-influence of Carr’s vocals in The Earlies. We have the new track “Borrowed Time” to premiere, which is a steady pulse of paranoia and psychedelia—a natural pairing to be sure.
