RECAP: DTS Space LA Bends Reality, Celebrates the Art of Cardistry with DJ Babu and the Buck Brothers at the FLOOD Gallery

While you very well know the good old “is this your card?” magic tricks, which are fine for boardwalks and bar mitzvahs, you need to know about Cardistry. Imagine skateboarding—or, maybe, the Tech Deck—but with playing cards. Cardistry requires finesse, dexterity, and the famous 10,000 hours of dedication to be able to seamlessly spring, cut, and fan fifty-two cards to create this incredible art.

DTS and The Buck Brothers partnered together to create Avant Card, an immersive video experience that merges the worlds of Cardistry and sound, and last week we joined with them to celebrate the video’s release. Dan and Dave Buck showcased their amazing card aerobatics, and top magicians Jordan Gold, Rmax Goodwin, and Wes Mathison entertained the crowd throughout the evening while DJ Babu provided the soundscape. Guests were also treated to top-notch mixology and food, and thanks to custom decks of DTS playing cards, they can now practice their own Cardistry at home.
