While Moors and Slow Magic may not be household names quite yet, both acts are poised to break through in a big way—and as evidenced by this new collaboration, they are a match made in remix heaven.

The base of this track is the one-man mysterioso project known as Slow Magic, whose electronic dream pop defies proper genre qualification. Insisting on the idea of his identity being akin to that of an “imaginary friend,” the man behind the Slow Magic mask released his second LP How to Run Away this past September via Downtown Records, seducing audiences with the undeniable singles Hold Still and “Girls.”

Amongst that enraptured audience was the group Moors, an indie-rap project consisting of producer HH and rapper Keith Stanfield, who is himself perhaps most recognizable for his impressive work as an actor in Destin Daniel Cretton’s film Short Term 12 (and for his upcoming role as Snoop Dogg in the NWA biopic Straight Outta Compton). The two released their debut self-titled EP last month, quickly raising the rather curious and difficult question to answer of: “Between acting and rapping, what is Stanfield better at?”

Hard to say just yet, but if his performance on this Moors remix of “Girls” is any indication, Stanfield had better play a mean Snoop Dogg to keep that conversation alive.

Judge for yourself, and take a listen below.
