With J.J. Abram’s Episode VII underway, Deadline reports that Lucasfilm is already eyeing Rian Johnson to write and direct Star Wars episodes VIII and IX.
The writer-director, best known for his acclaimed high-school noir debut Brick in 2005 and the time-traveling thriller Looper in 2012, has a reputation for bringing both style and substance to the screen. Despite a relatively short career (three feature films to date), Johnson’s impressive work thus far makes him both an admirable and interesting choice to continue the new Star Wars franchise.
