When Elba’s prowess on the decks was revealed to the masses by way of his booking at Coachella 2019, the news was followed shortly by the announcement that he’d be starring in a new Netflix series in which he plays a… DJ.
Today, the trailer for Turn Up Charlie was released. In this clip, we see Elba’s character as a superstar DJ past his prime. When he gets the call to work with one of the hottest new jocks in the game, he’s excited for another shot at stardom—until he realizes that she wants him to nanny her wild eleven-year-old daughter. As expected, hilarity ensues.
All eight episodes of Season 1 will premiere globally on Netflix March 15. Watch the trailer below. There’s a cameo from UK R&B singer Craig David.
