Alec Benjamin is nobody’s prefab pop star.

The Phoenix native has earned his current buzz status as an emerging artist to watch the old-fashioned way: hard work.

His developing legend is as inspirational as they come. Signed to a record deal as a teen, Benjamin was unceremoniously dropped from the label not twenty-four hours after handing in his debut.

Instead of crying in his beer, he gathered up enough coins to take his talent to Europe in 2016, where he put on impromptu shows in the parking lots of Troye Sivan and Shawn Mendes concerts.

Benjamin has been riding that self-made momentum ever since, resulting in the nascent pop star racking up dizzying numbers on Spotify, and growing his perpetually expanding audience with sharp songwriting and passionate performances.

With a sold-out US tour slated for the spring and a debut album on tap, Benjamin is ready to share his latest song, “If I Killed Someone for You.”

As the title suggests, this new track is an examination of the darker side of love and obsession, arriving with a dramatic visual featuring Benjamin and the object of his affection on an endless all-night road trip across America. Watch it below.
