You know someone is a legend when the post office puts their image on a stamp.

Such is the case with soul legend Marvin Gaye, who is set to be honored with a commemorative postage stamp.

Marking the occasion is a special Marvin Gaye commemorative Forever stamp first-day-of-issue dedication ceremony set for April 2 at LAs Greek Theatre. The date is significant, as it marks what would have been the singers 80th birthday.

“In celebration of the ‘Prince’ of Soul, the United States Postal Service will honor Marvin Gaye on his 80th birthday,” reads the press statement. “The Marvin Gaye stamp is being issued as a Forever® stamp. This Forever stamp will always be equal in value to the current First Class Mail® one-ounce price.”

Fans in the LA area can attend by sending an RSVP here. Marvin Gaye stamps will be available for purchase before and after the event. See the stamp below.
