ICY somehow MI, songwriter Cate Le Bon released the debut single from her forthcoming LP, Reward, last week—“Daylight Matters.” Coming off a stellar DRINKS release last year, and a guest spot on Deerhunter’s record earlier this year, Le Bon is going solo again, putting out her fifth record via Mexican Summer on May 24.

Today, Le Bon is sharing a stunning video for “Daylight Matters,” setting the stark experimental pop number to scenes of Le Bon traversing unpopulated Welsh coastlines and industrial settings, eerily washed in saturated reds (think Red Desert, only…not as bleak). The video represents “playful solitary despair in an alien landscape of sinking sand and towers in the sea,” as Le Bon describes it. “Searching or running away? A little bit of both, maybe.”
