For the last installment of this exclusive three-part series, FLOOD has teamed up with LA’s own Wallows, one of the city’s most intriguing new bands that’s on the verge of breaking out in a major way. We checked in with the guys every week or so before the release of their debut album—which is finally out. Hop on board now before they’re an “overnight sensation” and headlining huge shows around the world.

Wallows have arrived.

Now that the Los Angeles band has been here for a while, they’ve amassed a growing and rabid fanbase with their sparkling pop-rock classics for a new generation. But with the arrival of the group’s debut album Nothing Happens comes a certain sense of both finality and a fresh start. A lot goes into those things.

“It feels surreal now that the record is finally out and in the world,” the band shared from the whirlwind that continues to whip around them in the wake of the big release. “Seeing the reactions and the way people are responding to certain songs and the album as a whole is very exciting for us, and we just can’t wait to play these songs live for everyone.”

So it’s wholly appropriate that our third and final look behind the curtain on the making of Nothing Happens lands on the band playing the classic board game Life with producer John Congleton.

Captured in the same studio where the album was crafted, the gaming session found the guys singing their producer’s praises. Congleton returned the favor, but also kept it real in regards to Wallows being possibly a tad overly obsessive while it was being mixed. Most importantly, though, he noted how much growth he saw in them as artists between the Spring EP and Nothing Happens.

Things get deep and more than a little profound as the conversation turns toward mortality and, you guessed it, the meaning of life.
