It’s been a banner week for the cool kids of the ’90s, a.k.a. Generation X. A sprawling—albeit somewhat scattered—look back at the population named after Douglas Coupland’s notorious 1991 book in the New York Times has reignited conversation around the “lost” generation weaned on Nirvana, Twin Peaks, and Reality Bites.
The look back also comes with a feature on troubled ’90s heartthrob, Evan Dando and his band, The Lemonheads. Drugged out of his mind and pretty enough to get away with it, the singer is still living the Gen X dream in Napa Valley, subsisting on royalty checks from the glory days of the grunge decade.
Dando and The Lemonheads roll on, most recently with a collection of cover versions, Varshons 2. Dando has shared the next single from the release, his take on Eagles’ 1972 hit, “Take It Easy.” The crew sounds right at home on the country-rock classic. Listen to it below.
