Gary Clark Jr. continues to break the chains of genre expectation surrounding his music and persona with a fiery new video, “Got to Get Up.” It’s a tripped-out kaleidoscopic collage, directed by Manu Viqueira and Laprisamata.

Viqueira refers to the clip as “a journey throughout history in which the powerful energy of ‘Got to Get Up’ makes people come together to fight with pride against different forms of oppression.” Images of Bob Marley, John Lennon, Martin Luther King Jr., and more icons can be found in the visual.
