The debut album from Julian Casablancas + The Voidz, Tyranny is set to drop on September 23 via Casablancas’s own Cult Records, and you can pre-order the album right now for only $3.87.

It seems like Casablancas is making a not-so-thinly veiled commentary about the music industry with the band’s choice of album title (and low price). In a press release, he explained his reasoning:

Tyranny has come in many forms throughout history. Now, the good of business is put above anything else, as corporations have become the new ruling body. Most decisions seem to be made like ones of a medieval king: whatever makes profit while ignoring and repressing the truth about whatever suffering it may cause (like pop music, for that matter).

The band will also be starting their first-ever “American tour to melt people’s faces” on Thursday October 16, so check out their tour dates here.
