Sneakerhead culture and Beastie Boys fandom have joined forces for a new shoe celebrating the hip-hop legends’ most celebrated—and controversial—release. This July 25 will mark the thirtieth anniversary of the Beastie Boys’ 1989 album Paul’s Boutique. The group’s second after the breakout success of debut Licensed to Ill, the kaleidoscopic collection of deep samples and obscure pop culture references flew well over the heads of many listeners. Now recognized as a bona fide classic, the album’s iconic status is secured in music history.

Beastie Boys’ Adam Horovitz and Mike Diamond were joined by fellow New York hip-hop legend LL Cool J last night at Beyond the Streets in Brooklyn to introduce the new Adidas collaboration, per Sneaker News. The shoe is an update on the classic Adidas Americana skateboard sneakers, upgraded with an entirely vegan canvas upper, a gray/off-white colorway, and the band’s logo emblazoned on the tongue.
The Beastie Boys x Adidas Skateboarding Americana is set to drop exclusively at select North American skateboard retailers, and the Beyond the Streets gift shop. A portion of the proceeds will benefit PEACE Sisters and Little Kids Rock, and a full exhibition celebrating Paul’s Boutique will be on display throughout the rest of summer at the Beyond the Streets Gallery.
