Originally from Fort Worth, TX, singer-songwriter Cale Tyson started out in Nashville and recently relocated to the sunny shores of Los Angeles, having first appeared on the Americana market with a UK release through Clubhouse Records. His music has since moved away from twang and gone the more melancholy indie route, with the tone of his last EP narcissist compared to both Conor Oberst and Elliott Smith.
According to Tyson, “Fade Me Away,” the first single from his forthcoming EP Who Hurt You, is “probably the most uptempo song I’ve recorded in the past two years. It’s basically me being bitter about someone wanting to be friends when I had more-than-friendly feelings for them. It’s a request to be cut off instead of strung along.”
Over the course of the Austin Leih–directed music video, Tyson chills on a chair in the sun, on a raft in the pool, and inside the chlorine itself, all while remaining completely absorbed by his phone. A girl (actress Jade Santana) dances exuberantly alongside him, but he doesn’t seem to notice.
