“If rock and roll is dead, then shoot me in the head,” sings Andy Clockwise to kick off his new seven-minute single, his third from his yet unscheduled triple album War Stories. Doing more than his part with this ambitious project, the Rosa Pullman–featuring track “The Lucky Ones” posits that rock is very much alive, having evolved into some James Murphy–dreamed electronic soundscape incorporating elements of everything from post-punk and new wave to spacious (and spacey) prog rock.

“Mix Tears for Fears and Joshua Tree–era U2 in a modern bowl of Bowie’s Low and we have the Australian/LA local hero’s anti-anthem ‘The Lucky Ones,’” notes his label. “With recent singles and sold out nights at Hotel Electric celebrating the new sound of his brand of electronic indie rock, Andy Clockwise may have just proved that these years of perfecting his craft is about to pay off for all of us, big time!”

Along with the roomy single, Clockwise is sharing a roomy video for the track, featuring his live band performing in an open field (not very Australian/Angeleno in its greens). Watch it below, and keep your eyes peeled for a War Stories release date. You can stream or purchase “The Lucky Ones” here.
