A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night / The Girl puts on eyeliner.

Though she’s just wrapped up an incredible year with her debut film, the dark, gorgeously shot genre-shifter A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night, we’ll be seeing something new from Ana Lily Amirpour sooner rather than later. Her Sundance breakout (which also picked up a few notable Spirit Award noms) turned lots of heads with its unique tone—a fantastical mix between a love story and a horror film—and now we’re hearing some development news for her sophomore film, titled The Bad Batch. According to The Film Stage, VICE Films (which put out Girl) will co-produce the film alongside Megan Ellison’s Annapurna Pictures, a relatively new production company that’s quickly built up an impressive catalog with Spike Jonze’s Her, Paul Thomas Anderson’s The Master, Harmony Korine’s Spring Breakers, and Bennett Miller’s Foxcatcher.

In an interview with Filmmaker Magazine, Amirpour detailed her new film as a similarly strange mix of influences and oddity as Girl: “A muscled cannibal breaks the rule ‘don’t play with your food.’ It’s Road Warrior meets Pretty in Pink with a dope soundtrack.” Can’t wait.
