The London-based art-pop band have a new climate change–inspired tune.

Since art-pop trio Kero Kero Bonito released their sophomore record Time ‘n’ Place last year, they’ve been touring extensively, including a stop to make their Coachella debut this past summer. Now, approaching another North American fall tour, they’ve released a new song entitled “When the Fires Come.”

The track is about our planet’s climate crisis, and has a harrowing first person story attached. “‘When the Fires Come’ is about the worldwide wildfires heralding the seemingly imminent climate change apocalypse,” the band shared. “It was partially inspired by our experience on tour in North California last year, when we got caught underneath the smoke cloud from the Camp Fire. The video was shot on the hottest day of 2019 in Britain.”

The video takes place entirely outside, from desert sand dunes to lush forests. The band members dress for a coming apocalypse with goggles and sunglasses. Watch the video and see a full list of upcoming tour dates below. Buy tickets here
