In the wake of the profoundly catchy introductory single “Competition,” as well as the deceptively complex “Goodbyes and Endings,” San Francisco’s preeminent indie rock duo The Dodos have now released “Retriever” (which premiered over at DIY), the third new song ahead of their upcoming album, Individ.

The track is slow-burning and epic, fueled by the poly-rhythmic curiosities that Meric Long and Logan Kroeber utilize so well. It also helps to round out a full image of what to expect when the whole album drops later this month.

Listen to “Retriever” below, and be reassured that these Dodos are very far from extinct.

Individ is out January 27 via Polyvinyl Records.
