Pop singer-songwriter Elizabeth (formerly of the now-disbanded Melbourne group Totally Mild) is releasing her debut full-length The Wonderful World of Nature on November 1 via Our Golden Friend.

Today, she shares the Triana Hernandez–directed video for “beautiful baby,” a dark and atmospheric lounge track that’ll remind you of Twin Peaks—and for good reason.

“’Beautiful baby’ is about leaving the chaos of a relationship behind,” Elizabeth shares of the song. “It’s about trying to understand how a love that was so beautiful could be a thing that ends. We took a lot of inspiration from the music of Twin Peaks, hoping to re-imagine the magical spell of Angelo Badalamenti and Julee Cruise.”

In the video, Elizabeth performs the dreamy tune on a smoky stage, whilst simultaneously remembering happier times eating cupcakes with her lover in the park. According to director Hernandez, “the ‘beautiful baby’ music video is an exploration of Elizabeth’s power and allure. It’s a break up song that works like a spell and speaks of pain as much as it speaks of moving on. The song is emotionally intense, so for this clip we worked with two of the most visually dramatic inspirations out there: Lana Del Rey and David Lynch’s Twin Peaks series.”

The Wonderful World of Nature is out November 1. Pre-order it here and watch the video below.
