Heartland emo duo—and one third of post-hardcore phenoms Moving Mountains—Caravela released their third album Ski well over a year ago, but today they’re resuscitating the project with a brand new video for the record’s soaring single “Carrier.” The perfect cross-section of Turnover and The Gaslight Anthem, what “Carrier” lacks in dream-pop guitars and frequent recitations of popular American girls’ names circa 1959, it more than makes up for in streamlined pop punk romanticizing certain memories.

“‘Carrier’ is a toast of sorts to that fleeting sparked romance that lives in the corners of your head,” frontman Frank Graniero recalls of the song. “About knowing that part of yourself that’s a longing, swooning thinker—conversing with romantic notions as what they really are—trying not to let it eat you up, and yet not die inside of you. The gamble being the whole thing, because it’s mostly a fire trick.”

To illustrate this headspace, the video for “Carrier” intercuts footage of the band ripping through the track and scenes of a pair of black-skull-capped figures tearing through New York on foot for undisclosed reasons. “The video was filmed in two days running around NYC with the help of our great friend Jamie Houghton, who ran through a rolled ankle like a champ,” Graniero concludes.
