Written by Baumbach and Greta Gertwig (Frances Ha, Hannah Takes the Stairs), Mistress America follows the story of a college freshman (newcomer Lola Kirke) disillusioned by her life and studies in New York who is taken under the wing of her adventurous about-to-be stepsister (Gerwig).

Fox Searchlight Pictures Presidents Stephen Gilula and Nancy Utley made a statement about their newest film acquisition: “Noah’s distinct cinematic voice and keen sense of humor are an ideal fit for what we do at Searchlight. We are thrilled to be working with Noah and Greta and couldn’t be more excited to be taking their new collaboration to audiences.”

Mistress America has no official release date beyond the Sundance premiere, but is still slated for a 2015 wide release.
