There doesn’t seem to be a whole lot of overlap between the breezy, bilingual synth-pop of Kero Kero Bonito and the merciless noise rap of Death Grips, but the two artists appear to both be very popular among the very-online community, even inviting increasingly conspiratorial comparisons over the past few years. It may not be worth noting that there’s a Reddit post about the two bands’ similarities, as there’s probably a Reddit post on every conceivable topic at this point, though the visual and audio fan art that’s hit the net is certainly worth noting.

Last night, though, KKB revealed themselves to be more than familiar with the songs of the experimental rap band at their show in DG’s native Sacramento when they busted out a performance of “I’ve Seen Footage” from the group’s most well-known release, 2012’s The Money Store. The internet was right: this…kinda makes sense.

While there’s little more than a minute’s worth of cellphone footage to document the occasion, you can stream the convincing evidence of this real-life mashup below.
