We haven’t heard a new Purity Ring album in five years, but that’s about to change this Friday when the witchy electropop duo release Womb, their first LP since 2015’s Another Eternity. After a slew of trancy singles to pique our interest, Megan James and Corin Roddick are sharing one last pre-album track before 4AD unveils the full record.
The latest cut, “i like the devil,” is a clever play on words that hearkens back to the group’s dark debut and the days of witch house, while remaining mostly restrained and oddly dancey. “I, like the devil, can fly / I read her sweet mind last night,” sings James over a sparse piano line before Roddick’s pulsing instrumentation kicks back in.
Along with the release of Womb, Friday marks the date of the duo’s /r/popheads AMA—pre-order the record now, and ask them anything at 1 p.m. PST.
